Season 36 conclusion |

As there is nothing ... at all ... posted about the washup of the season, I'm gonna post this. I probably have everything wrong 'cause I'm newb and stupid, but I felt something had to be said - it's like a funeral in here!
PRO LEAGUE
Congratulations to The Dark for their 2-0 win in the finals rubber v Assassins. This is the third time The Dark have won the championship, after originally breaking a long long drought in Season 27. The Dark now have 3 championship titles to sit beside three runners-up trophies.
Bad luck to Assassins who had yet another powerful season but fell at the final hurdle. Ass's league-best tally of pennants remains at 11. This is the seventh time they've come in second, which means they have featured in the finals in exactly half of Pro League's 36 seasons. Not counting of course that some might consider they are a follow-on from Intrepid raising this figure even higher.
AML
Congratulations to Backarrow, winning their finals series v Llamas in straight sets for their first title. Candy's Backarrow were runners-up three seasons ago to Port Llast which some refer to as an upset. Not so this season as they cleaned up Llamasery in no uncertain fashion in the first final, and generally held control again in the second. Well done BA.
Llamasery might be smarting from the last couple of weekends but they are tenacious and one of the squads most likely to show for league even when its down to 1 team. I can't see them not climbing back on their horse for Season 37. Unlike Backarrow, Llamas have been around for an eon, winning 3 AML titles (4 if you count their reserve side when they moved to IML), 2 in IML (one while superbly disguised) and three runners-up trophies. They last featured in finals a few seasons back when simply living long enough to survive the 22 round season was as much an accomplishment as winning a play-offs series.
Thanks to all teams and players for competing in the season. 11 squads survived, two did not. Those 11 squads don't sound like a huge number, but note that you have to go back to Season 27 to find a larger number completing the season. That's the middle of 2010 - 5 years ago.
As a bottom-feeder shit player who can't fight my way out of a light fog, I enjoy playing when I get the chance. I love every minute of 4v4 (except for usually the 1minute mark, the 3 minute mark and the 4 minute mark of each prac ). Characters don't get much more colourful than what is seen in 4v4 arenas, and I hope to see it continue for some time yet. So thanks for all the fun, and hope to see you around for another bitchfest!

Question re Euro League's early seasons |

Can't nut this one out.
Difficulties have surfaced in understanding the first two seasons of Euro league.
I have learned from various sources:
- iNET and Euro are generally interchangeable terms for the name of the league.
- Euro's first season was one competition only. There may have been no references to Omegas and so on.
- The winner of the first title was Three Crowns.
- In Season 02, Three Crowns would be renamed as Made in Sweden.
- Requiem joined in Season 02, and won the championship.
- All of this seems to be with reference to the premier competition (Pro/Omega). BALLISTICS (shown below) also mention their pride in retaining Omega status.
Now, the issues occur when I start integrating result data from various sources.
- Requiem's account of their first season (allegedly Season 02) spans matches from July to September, 1998.
- BALLISTICS website state their first season spans matches from May to August and later (undated), 1998.
- - They also mention that the next season is due to start in October.
So that sounds like Season 02 was through mid-1998.
BUT, one of BALLISTICS' opponents is given as Three Crowns, a team that should have changed name to Made in Sweden for Season 02.
- This suggests that the season was Season 01. The following season includes BALLISTICS referring to MiS as "last season's champions", suggesting mid-1998 was Season 01.
- BALLISTICS also fail to meet Requiem during the season (although not every match seems to have been recorded).
- The following season, BALLISTICS meet both Made in Sweden and Requiem. This sets off an alarm because there is some cause to believe Requiem only played one season in Euro League.
I have no idea now what's Season 01 and what's Season 02
So if anyone with a photographic memory would like to chip in and show me where I'm going wrong, I'd be most appreciative!

SVS Leagues History wiki |

Over the past ... I dunno how long ... I've been scouring the net and people's heads for historical info on leagues in SVS Subspace competition. Now's probably a good time to link it here. In a wiki format, with basically zero bells or whistles, but just timeline data, I've collated everything I could find. So here it is, hopefully it's a bit of fun to look through, maybe even of use for the odd argument here and there.
>>> http://svsleagues.shoutwiki.com/ <<<
A few things to understand:
- I haven't made it pretty. That wasn't the point. Sure, maybe one day. Not high on priorities. I'm already regretting some formatting conventions. I am not a web designer. I'm just a nerd with a lot of time on my hands.
- Its not finished, and never will be. Clearly there are heaps of holes ... I do have more info to integrate, but its a wiki ... which means an eternal work in progress. Anyone can contribute. It can grow so long as more info is ever out there to be found.
- So feel free to add stuff. You can pass info to me, or edit the site yourself. Just try to make sense, and remember to cross-reference. Ask me if you are unsure what to do or how to do it. I am notified about any changes.
- ALIASES - Some aliases are linked. Some are not. In general, people no longer around got their aliases linked (if I knew them - there would be hundreds that I don't know). If they're still playing, I didn't, unless if I chatted with them and they said it was ok. A lot of obvious matches are there but that's up to the player if they are current. There might be some rare exceptions, but that's just me being inconsistent. Clearly obvious alternative names like Benji v B3NJ1, I tended to link. Again, work in progress. Most people would probably like to see all their info on one page.
- Warzone and Powerball are little more than placeholders at the moment. I have some data, just haven't got around to it yet. Wanted to publicise the wiki before the finals came up. Dueling League (2v2) is still to come. Gladiator needs more filling out. Euro league is lacking a lot of data, especially Delta and Gamma. tbh Pro/IML & AML got the most focus.
Some pages of note:
- http://svsleagues.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Category:Players (I just want you to see the number of links - housebound, with OCD - what do you expect!)
- http://svsleagues.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Editor%27s_Arena - handy hints I rushed together to try to keep control in case every man and his dog wants to contribute
- http://svsleagues.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Media - essentially all the match videos and a couple of easter eggs down the bottom
- http://svsleagues.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Website_References_Catalogue - nostalgia ftw!
If you see errors, or just have info you'd like to include, by all means go for it: tell me or edit the site directly. I'll clean up any struggles with consistent format.
A lot of people have helped, generally providing info. Some of the ones who've offered a heap of info include Gruntster, Hallu, hendrix, Peeking Duck?, High Gain, twIsta, Three, Plutorus, Mighty Sven, Bargeld, Ra, Underlord, Benji, Caerbannog, Pryde - and many, many more. Thanks to everyone who put up with my questions.
Ok hope you enjoy. I suck at playing so wanted to give something other than 250 ping of aussie badness.

3pm:
AML Game 1 Llamas vs. Backarrow -- 1295311
Noob exhibition SFE vs. Symphony, maybe.
4pm:
PRO Game 1 Assassins vs. The Dark -- 1295312
Solar Hydro from SFE wanted to play Symphony for the AML Bronze medal, one of the most prestigious SS achievements.. if Symphony want to do this, let me know. I'll schedule it. Theoretically Outlaws and Critical Mass could do the same thing for the PRO bronze, but I don't think they would be too keen to. Let me know though.

i don't know how many of you nerds would actually wear any of this out in public, but i did get around to doing a spreadshirt page.
http://buttes.spreadshirt.com
here's the deal: i am a lazy fucking asshole when it comes down to me printing these things and it's a colossal pain in the ass to deal with UPS/post office on the daily. the pricing on spreadshirt is a big high for my tastes; i can't see spending more than like 10spacebux on a fucking tee shirt, so meh. note, also, since i'm not the one doing the actual printing, i cannot guarantee the quality. it might be some iron-on shit like cafepress.
i'm probably like 15 years too late on this, but whatever.
ALSO: apparently i get a whole whopping dollar commission off these. regarding shit like this, though, it's not about the money.

Anyone know/remember what "GoH" stood for?
GoH was a team that formed from ONE's players in Season 05. GoH played 5 rounds, but then ONE reformed and replaced them for the remainder of the season.
Just wondering what the acronym stood for (assuming it's an acronym).
